Long Pearl Necklace with Grey Agate Feature Stones

A new idea springs to mind nearly every few days in my head and due to a request from the staff at Mariko to use a popular design I make for them on a regular basis each season with a new stone. I discovered this huge grey facetted agate feature stones and added another two large matching round 12mm agate beads to it. It matches so beautifully with the grey rice pearls and round white pearls. Voila! a long white necklace with a touch of something unique. Sometimes simple is best. This piece is available at Mariko Boutiques – South Perth.

Always Pearls

As long as I can remember I have always loved pearls. I just found an image where I seemingly couldn’t look much happier..could it be that I am wearing my favourite strand of pearls..the one I received when I had my daughter so many years ago now. They are still looking as good today as in this image. When you care for your precious pearls and wear them often they reward you by staying beautifully lustrous.

Going Gaga about Lime Green

Sometimes you just get caught up in colours that inspire and desire. Just recently I introduced some Bright as Sunshine Lime Gemstone beads to my collection and simply  had to make these lovely bright pearl and gemstone sterling silver earrings.

These 11mm beads are Bright! Lime Green Jasper and I teamed them with a set of Lime Round Ringed Pearls and Lime Baroque Oval pearls. I absolutely loved this design. I have a bit of a lime green fetish and always try to get the components just right and this is a wonderfully well balanced and chunky earring that just lifts the spirits. It will suit anyone from young to not so young. I know, as I have a pair myself! I really think it is a “to die for” earring.

Available on Etsy for the first time today.

Look what I found! A Peacock Chrysocolla and Pearl Pendant Necklace

Sometimes I can go for years not looking at all the jewellery I have packed away, then I get the urge to look through some old pieces I made and loved so much I had to keep them. Here’s how I renovated my beloved Peacock Green Pearl and Chrysocolla Pendant Necklace, set with stunning hallmarked sterling silver, gorgeous well cut peridot facetted gems in ovals and marquis and white pearls and strung on divine 12mm black Peacock Pearls. Sometimes you just have to service an old beloved necklace and make it up to date and glam it up again.

Pretty Pink Pearl and Amber Necklace with Carnelian

I’ve just made these pearl and amber necklace with carnelian. I quite like combining the textures of pearls and a rougher cut chunky accent stone. I love the smoothness of silky natural creamy pink 9mm pearls but I always say when “understated” is the required look..by all means wear something classical but please don’t make it “ordinary”. This is why I like adding something completely unusual when I make a long necklace. However, I don’t like to spoil the overall look of my favourite gem the pearl! and so I often place just one big stone as a focal point and blend the rest of the necklace with little discrete accents like amber or baby pearl in between the large ones, to hold attention, of the actual sweetness of the strand of pearls. You can buy this on Etsy. (follow the link below)

Sweden’s High Customs Cost for Internet Goods from Oz

A client who just purchased and received her Julleen necklace had to pay 25% landing tax in Sweden, plus of course, the post and insurance amounts…oh! the rising costs of getting goods sent safely to the other side of the globe! All up, she paid AUD56 (just in fees) extraordinary!! Lucky she loves her new necklace..is all I can say. With that bit of news…I hereby want to present the necklace in question. My lovely client believes, it was well worth it and is not the least bit bothered by any of it….a dream customer…by any standards. In her own words…she loves! loves! it.

Julleen Jewellery Meets the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip

I’ve always been a royalist and so when one of my dearest friends messaged me from London just now, with this – I just had to share it.

“Hello darling – I just met the duke of Edinburgh (queens hubby) & I wore your pendant necklace & earrings & I was photographed speaking to him xx Thankyou darling, they were the best jewels to wear to meet a prince”.

February always busy

February for me is always a busy time we have two birthdays in our family and of course there’s just that last bit, of holiday season left, to get any projects finished, see as many fringe shows as possible and then there’s Chinese New Year. There’s loads to entertain us, with arts festivals and music gigs and Feb, is jammed packed with things to do, before the restart of school or Uni. I can’t believe how when one thing is done, another thing just pops up to do, just like that!

One of the most significant days for couples is Valentines day always a good time for the jewellery trade! It’s also Awards Season in the USA and I get excited to see what the fashion will be like in jewellery on the red carpet. I’ve chosen a Pearl and Red Ruby Necklace I made recently, to accent the festivities of Chinese New Year, a time when the colour red, is oh so  important. This year we celebrate the year of the Monkey, it’s going to be a fun ride when nothing will stay the same for very long.
